In this industry there is a lot off hugging, and when people say “oooh u smell nice” my answer is always Creed, My fav’s include Green Irish Tweed, Royal Water and Himalaya. Emperor Franz-Joseph and Empress Sissi of Austro-Hungary, Queen Christina of Spain and Cary Grant can’t be wrong… The Company has been around since 1760, they must be doing something right.

J crew 00050m
I have always been a fan of J Crew, they are the masters of lifestyle marketing, their catalogues are to me what the Black Party is to others.
With the appointment of Dutch born Frank Muytjens to J.Crew’s Vice President of Men’s Design, the label has come even closer to sartorial nirvana.

Marni Fall 2010
The Marni Collection for Fall 2010 will be very well recieved by the faithful, Continuing with her pallet of murkey colours she introduced couture like details with an emphasis on the hip vearing toward more of an hour glass siloutte. The craftmanship is outstanding with a vague 50′s feel.

Mad about plaid

Fahion Magazine Gabor Jurina
When Susie Sheffman and I were in Milan last spring, we went to the “re-see” of the Prada collection for fall 2009, the first thing that came out of Susie’s mouth was “the girls guide to Hunting and Fishing”. to be honest I never read the book, but it seemed to be a perfect description of Miucca’s look for this fall. Sometimes one designers collection can influence a fashion story, then the fashion editor finds looks from other designers to round out the shoot.

The first job at hand was finding the perfect location, with the help of the Ontario Tourist Board we found this wonderful resort, The Killarney Lodge in Algonquin Park. The fashion team starts their work, countless hours of scouring look books and a zillion calls, some frustration and the clothes arrive at the magazine. We pack up our team and off we go to Algonquin, arriving in a rag tag menagerie of station wagons and white rental panel vans instead of a fleet of Black Suburbans.

The work begins the night before the shoot, we go through the looks, finalize the make-up inspiration and then we get a little down time, the adventurous go for a dip in the frigid water and then we hang out for a bit on the porch of one our cabins. We start early the next day, make-up takes a while and I want to catch the early morning light. We are pumped by the excitement and shoot till late in the day. The shoot takes two days, there is hard work, it’s not easy balancing on rocks in platform shoes, particularly when one of the islands is covered in little gifts from the birds. It may not be glamorous behind the scene’s but it sure is fun. Check out the story in the October issue of Fashion Magazine,

all that glitters

The Lebanese designer Zuhair Murad put on a glittering show in Paris. It was full of glitz and glamour suitable for his Arabian Princess cliental. Not an inch of fabric was left unadorned, much to the pleasure of his audience.

what’s wrong with people

I don’t know when things went so awry, but this constant need for people to publish there person lives perplexes me. I know it may appear that I’m being contradictory because I have a blog but this Twitter thing is just stupid. Who needs to know that I’m in the toilet or that I just ate a Big Mac (not that I would ever do either hahahahaha) I’m one of the last people I know not to own a smart phone and I will resist as long as I can.

It was bad enough with people and there useless Facebook status updates but now people even have Twitter ghost writters.
There was a time when discretion was the better part of valour but now certain people publish there most embarrassing moments for all to see (I guess I’m just old ), I don’t need my life to be a bad episode of Gossip Girl.
